Effective Date: October 1, 2026
Last Updated: October 1, 2026

Welcome to the Expat Mall community.

Expat Mall brings together people living, working, investing, traveling, and building businesses across borders. Our community is designed to help members discover opportunities, exchange knowledge, build meaningful relationships, and navigate life abroad and back home.

These Community Guidelines & Social Networking Policy establish the standards that apply when you use Expat Mall's social networking and community features, including member profiles, activity feeds, groups, discussions, comments, reactions, private messaging, member directories, and other interactive features made available through our platform.

By accessing or using these features, you agree to follow these guidelines, our Terms of Service, and our Privacy Policy.

1. Our Community Principles

We aim to build a community that is welcoming, constructive, trustworthy, and useful to people navigating international lives.

We encourage members to:

  • Respect every member. Treat people with dignity regardless of nationality, place of residence, profession, background, or personal circumstances.
  • Share knowledge generously. Offer useful information, practical experience, and thoughtful perspectives.
  • Build meaningful connections. Use the community to develop professional relationships, friendships, partnerships, and cross-border opportunities.
  • Contribute honestly. Represent yourself, your business, your qualifications, and your intentions accurately.
  • Protect privacy. Respect the personal information and reasonable confidentiality expectations of other members.
  • Keep discussions constructive. Disagree respectfully, debate ideas, and avoid personal attacks.
  • Help maintain trust. Report harmful, fraudulent, abusive, or suspicious activity when appropriate.

2. Respectful Conduct

Members must communicate respectfully and refrain from conduct that intimidates, humiliates, threatens, or unfairly targets others.

The following conduct is prohibited:

  • Harassment, bullying, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • Threats of violence or encouragement of physical harm.
  • Hate speech or targeted abuse based on protected or personal characteristics.
  • Degrading, intimidating, or abusive conduct toward other members.
  • Repeatedly contacting a member after being clearly asked to stop, subject to legitimate platform, legal, or safety-related exceptions.
  • Publishing another person's private information to intimidate, expose, threaten, or harm them.
  • Impersonating another member, public figure, professional, company, or government representative.
  • Coordinated harassment, malicious reporting, or deliberate attempts to disrupt community participation.

Members may discuss sensitive or controversial topics, including immigration, international politics, business, culture, and public policy, provided they do so lawfully and without violating these guidelines.

3. Discrimination and Inclusion

Expat Mall brings together people from different countries, cultures, professions, and personal circumstances. Members are expected to interact in good faith and respect those differences.

Content or conduct that targets individuals for abuse, exclusion, intimidation, or humiliation based on characteristics protected by applicable law is prohibited.

Constructive discussion about national identity, cultural differences, migration experiences, social issues, and public policy is permitted. Disagreement alone is not a violation.

We may remove content or restrict accounts when conduct violates these guidelines or applicable law.

4. Authentic Profiles and Identity

Members should provide accurate information about themselves and should not misrepresent their identity, professional qualifications, business affiliations, or authority to represent an organization.

You may use a professional name, recognized nickname, or business identity where appropriate, provided it does not deceive others or violate another person's rights.

You must not:

  • Create an account to impersonate another person or organization.
  • Use false credentials to gain trust or solicit business.
  • Misrepresent professional licenses, immigration credentials, investment experience, or other qualifications.
  • Operate deceptive accounts intended to manipulate discussions, reviews, recommendations, or marketplace activity.
  • Use another member's account without authorization.

Expat Mall may request additional information or restrict an account when reasonably necessary to investigate suspected impersonation, fraud, or abuse, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

5. Spam, Solicitation, and Self-Promotion

Members may share relevant professional updates, introduce their businesses, promote legitimate services, and discuss commercial opportunities where appropriate to the feature being used.

However, community features must not be used primarily for indiscriminate advertising, repetitive solicitation, or deceptive lead generation.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Posting repetitive advertisements or promotional messages across multiple groups or feeds.
  • Sending unsolicited bulk messages to members.
  • Using automated tools or scripts to generate posts, comments, reactions, invitations, or messages without authorization.
  • Posting misleading offers, fake testimonials, fabricated reviews, or deceptive endorsements.
  • Using the community to distribute phishing links, malware, fraudulent schemes, or suspicious downloads.
  • Collecting member contact information for unsolicited marketing without an appropriate lawful basis or required consent.
  • Manipulating engagement metrics, follower counts, recommendations, or other community signals.

Where Expat Mall provides designated business listings, marketplace listings, sponsored placements, or promotional features, members should use those features in accordance with the applicable rules.

We may limit repetitive promotions, remove spam, restrict messaging, or suspend accounts that abuse community features.

6. Private Messaging and Direct Communications

Private messaging is intended to facilitate legitimate communication, networking, and collaboration between members.

Members must not use private messages to harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate, exploit, or repeatedly solicit others in violation of these guidelines.

Members should not assume that a private message is legally privileged, completely confidential, or immune from disclosure in every circumstance.

Do not share another member's private messages, contact details, or other personal information publicly without an appropriate legal basis or authorization, except where disclosure is reasonably necessary for safety, reporting abuse, asserting legal rights, or complying with law.

Expat Mall may investigate credible reports of abuse and take appropriate action consistent with applicable law, our Privacy Policy, and the technical capabilities of the platform. We do not promise that every private message is monitored or reviewed.

7. Community Groups, Forums, and Discussions

Expat Mall may provide groups, discussion areas, forums, member-created communities, and other collaborative spaces.

Members participating in these spaces must:

  • Follow these guidelines and any additional rules established for the relevant group or discussion area.
  • Respect the group's stated purpose and avoid persistent off-topic posting.
  • Refrain from disrupting discussions through harassment, spam, coordinated manipulation, or repetitive irrelevant content.
  • Respect group administrators' legitimate moderation decisions, subject to Expat Mall's review procedures where available.
  • Avoid presenting personal opinions as official Expat Mall statements.

Group administrators may establish reasonable topic-specific rules, moderate discussions, and manage membership within the tools available to them. Their authority remains subject to Expat Mall's platform rules and applicable law.

Expat Mall may moderate, restrict, archive, or remove groups or discussions that violate these guidelines or create material legal, safety, or operational concerns.

8. User-Generated Content

Members may publish posts, comments, photographs, videos, documents, reviews, recommendations, event information, links, and other materials through Expat Mall.

You are responsible for the content you submit and for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions necessary to publish it.

You must not upload, publish, or distribute content that:

  • Is unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, threatening, or otherwise prohibited by applicable law.
  • Infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other third-party rights.
  • Contains another person's confidential information without authorization or another appropriate legal basis.
  • Contains malware, malicious scripts, phishing material, or other harmful technical content.
  • Promotes unlawful discrimination, exploitation, violence, or other prohibited conduct.
  • Contains fabricated claims about a person, company, product, service, or investment opportunity.
  • Misrepresents sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation, credentials, or the source of the content.
  • Violates the rules of the particular feature in which it is posted.

We may remove or restrict content when we reasonably believe it violates these guidelines, our Terms of Service, applicable law, or the rights and safety of others.

9. Intellectual Property and Content Permissions

You retain ownership of content you create, subject to rights belonging to other parties.

By submitting content to Expat Mall, you grant Expat Mall the non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license necessary to host, store, reproduce, display, format, distribute, and make that content available through the platform and its relevant features, consistent with your settings, our Terms of Service, and our Privacy Policy.

This license is intended to support the operation of the service. It does not transfer ownership of your content to Expat Mall.

You must not copy, scrape, reproduce, republish, or commercially exploit another member's content except as permitted by the platform's features, the content owner's permission, or applicable law.

Content may remain in backups, quotations, or other members' posts after you delete an original post or deactivate an account, where technically necessary or legally permitted. This does not give Expat Mall unrestricted permission to retain or use content indefinitely.

10. Privacy and Personal Information

Members should exercise care when sharing personal information on a social networking platform.

Before publishing information, consider whether you want it to be visible to other members, group participants, or a wider audience based on the applicable privacy settings.

You must not:

  • Publish another person's home address, private telephone number, financial information, identity documents, or other sensitive information without authorization or another appropriate legal basis.
  • Share passwords, authentication codes, or access credentials.
  • Use member information for stalking, harassment, identity theft, fraud, or other unlawful purposes.
  • Scrape member profiles or harvest contact information in violation of applicable law or platform rules.
  • Attempt to bypass privacy settings or access content that you are not authorized to view.

Privacy settings can reduce visibility but may not prevent screenshots, copying, forwarding, or other redistribution by recipients. Do not publish information unless you are comfortable with the foreseeable risks of sharing it.

Expat Mall's collection and handling of personal information are described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Professional Advice and Sensitive Topics

Members may discuss professional services and share personal experiences relating to healthcare, immigration, legal matters, taxes, finance, investing, education, employment, and other subjects.

However, information shared by members is not necessarily reviewed by qualified professionals and should not be treated as a substitute for individualized professional advice.

Members must not falsely claim to hold professional licenses, registrations, certifications, or government authorization.

Where a professional license or other qualification is legally required to provide a service, members must comply with the applicable requirements.

Do not rely on community posts or direct messages alone when making consequential medical, legal, immigration, tax, financial, or investment decisions. Verify important information with appropriately qualified professionals and authoritative sources.

12. Investment Opportunities, Fundraising, and Business Promotions

Expat Mall may allow members to discuss businesses, share pitch decks, introduce founders, discover commercial opportunities, or access investment-related features.

Community participation does not mean that Expat Mall endorses, verifies, recommends, or approves a business or investment opportunity.

Members must not use community features to:

  • Publish materially false or misleading claims about an investment, issuer, business, or financial result.
  • Guarantee investment returns or conceal material risks.
  • Impersonate an issuer, investment professional, regulator, or other authorized representative.
  • Misrepresent investor eligibility, offering terms, regulatory approval, or the status of a transaction.
  • Conduct unlawful securities solicitation, investment fraud, or other prohibited financial activity.
  • Share confidential offering materials in violation of applicable restrictions or agreements.

Any securities-related activity must comply with applicable law and the requirements governing the specific offering. A post, group, direct message, pitch deck, or private community does not automatically qualify for an exemption from securities regulation.

Members should review Expat Mall's Disclosures, Investment Risks & Early Access page and the applicable transaction documents before considering an investment.

Expat Mall may restrict investment-related posts or access where appropriate to address compliance, safety, or platform concerns.

13. Fraud, Scams, and Suspicious Activity

Members must not use Expat Mall to facilitate scams, theft, fraud, money laundering, identity theft, or other unlawful conduct.

Examples of prohibited activity include:

  • Fraudulent business opportunities or fabricated investment offers.
  • Phishing, credential theft, and impersonation scams.
  • Requests for money based on deceptive claims or false emergencies.
  • Fake professional credentials or fraudulent service listings.
  • Misleading requests for bank transfers, cryptocurrency transfers, or other payments.
  • Attempts to exploit members' immigration status, financial circumstances, or personal vulnerabilities.

Members should independently verify the identity and credentials of people they engage with and exercise caution before transferring money or sharing sensitive information.

Report suspected scams or fraudulent conduct through the official reporting or contact channels made available by Expat Mall.

14. Prohibited and Dangerous Content

Members must not publish or distribute content through Expat Mall that unlawfully promotes violence, exploitation, threats, or other serious wrongdoing.

Content involving child sexual exploitation, credible threats of violence, non-consensual intimate imagery, or other serious abuse is prohibited.

Expat Mall may remove content, restrict access, preserve relevant records where legally appropriate, and refer matters to competent authorities when required or appropriate under applicable law.

15. Commercial Relationships and Conflicts of Interest

Members who promote products, services, businesses, or opportunities should disclose material commercial relationships where required by applicable law or necessary to avoid misleading others.

Paid endorsements, referral arrangements, sponsorships, affiliate links, and other compensated promotions must comply with applicable advertising and disclosure requirements.

Members must not fabricate testimonials, impersonate customers, manipulate reviews, or conceal material relationships in a manner that misleads other users.

Expat Mall may establish additional rules for sponsored content, commercial listings, affiliate promotions, and marketplace activities.

16. Moderation and Enforcement

Expat Mall may review reports, investigate suspected violations, and take reasonable steps to maintain a safe and functional community.

Depending on the circumstances, actions may include:

  • Removing, editing, hiding, or restricting access to content.
  • Issuing a warning or requesting corrective action.
  • Restricting posting, commenting, messaging, group participation, or other features.
  • Removing a member from a group or community space.
  • Temporarily suspending an account.
  • Terminating an account or restricting future access.
  • Preserving relevant information or referring a matter to appropriate authorities when required or appropriate under applicable law.

We may consider the seriousness of the conduct, potential harm, repeated violations, evidence available, applicable law, and other relevant circumstances.

Where appropriate and feasible, Expat Mall may provide notice of a moderation decision and an opportunity to appeal. We do not guarantee advance notice in every case, particularly where immediate action is reasonably necessary to protect members, preserve evidence, prevent abuse, or comply with law.

Nothing in this section requires Expat Mall to monitor all content, investigate every report, or take a particular enforcement action in every situation.

17. Reporting Content and Member Conduct

If you encounter harassment, impersonation, spam, suspected fraud, privacy violations, or other content that may violate these guidelines, use the reporting tools provided by Expat Mall, if available, or contact us through our official website contact channels.

When making a report, provide relevant details and supporting information where reasonably possible. Do not knowingly submit false or malicious reports intended to harass another member or manipulate moderation decisions.

Please avoid publicly reposting harmful content or exposing additional personal information when reporting a concern.

18. Group Administrators and Member Moderators

Some Expat Mall features may permit group administrators or designated moderators to manage community participation.

Administrators and moderators should act in good faith, apply group rules fairly, protect confidential information, and avoid using their authority to harass, defraud, or improperly disadvantage members.

Group administrators and moderators are not automatically employees, agents, or official representatives of Expat Mall.

Expat Mall may intervene in group administration where reasonably necessary to address violations, protect members, maintain platform integrity, or comply with applicable law.

19. Automated Tools and Platform Integrity

Members must not attempt to disrupt, compromise, or improperly manipulate Expat Mall's technical systems or social networking features.

Prohibited conduct includes unauthorized scraping, automated account creation, spam bots, malicious code, attempts to bypass access controls, and unauthorized collection or use of platform data.

Use of automation or integrations must comply with applicable law, the platform's technical restrictions, and any applicable third-party terms.

20. Accessibility and Language

Expat Mall is intended to serve an international community. Members are encouraged to communicate clearly and respectfully, recognizing that participants may have different language abilities and cultural expectations.

Where practical, members should avoid using language differences as a basis for ridicule or harassment. Constructive requests for clarification and good-faith translation assistance are welcome.

21. No Guarantee of Member Conduct

Expat Mall provides tools that may help members connect and communicate. However, we cannot guarantee the identity, qualifications, intentions, conduct, or reliability of every member.

Members are responsible for their own decisions, communications, and interactions. Exercise appropriate caution when meeting people, entering business relationships, sharing documents, or conducting transactions with other members.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Expat Mall is not responsible for independent member conduct merely because the interaction occurred through the platform. Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

22. Relationship to Other Expat Mall Policies

These guidelines supplement the following policies and agreements, as applicable:

Additional terms may apply to marketplace transactions, seller activities, professional services, bookings, employment listings, courses, business submissions, investment opportunities, or other specialized features.

If a particular feature has additional rules, members must comply with those rules as well as these Community Guidelines.

23. Updates to These Guidelines

Expat Mall may revise these guidelines as the platform evolves, new features are introduced, or legal requirements change.

Updated versions will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Where required by applicable law or our Terms of Service, we will provide notice or obtain additional acceptance before material changes take effect.

Members are encouraged to review these guidelines periodically.
